Prom
Table slide (flexion)
Gain overhead range with the arm relaxed.
Complete
Why it is used in rehab
Trunk movement, not shoulder muscle effort, drives the stretch—useful when active lifting is painful.
Targets
Starting position
Stand or sit beside a table with the injured arm resting on it, thumb up.
Step-by-step
- Keep the arm relaxed and lean your trunk forward so the hand slides away and the shoulder moves into flexion.
- Return slowly.
Movement mechanics: Relative motion — the body moves under the arm.

Coaching notes
Common mistakes
- Pushing with the arm instead of leaning
Easier variation
- Shorter slide
Advanced variation
- Hold at end range longer
