Outward-rotation comparison

Check whether the arm can turn outward as far as the other side.

PurposeCheck whether the arm can turn outward as far as the other side.
Procedure
  1. Stand with elbows bent 90° and tucked to your sides, thumbs up.
  2. Turn both forearms outward together and compare.
What you may noticeIn frozen shoulder, outward rotation is typically the first and most restricted movement and feels like "hitting a wall".
InterpretationLoss of outward rotation with pain warrants early medical review (injection can help in the freezing stage).
